In this article

Want to turn your regular videos into interactive shopping experiences?

In this guide, you’ll learn how to add products, control when they appear, mark featured items, and preview your shoppable video — all inside the Vimmi Console.

By the end, you’ll have a video that displays clickable product overlays synced to your timeline.

Main Steps

  1. Select a video in the Vimmi Console

  2. Add products from your synced catalog

  3. Set display times for each product overlay

  4. Mark one product as Featured

  5. (Optional) Trim the video and optimize metadata

  6. Save, preview, and test your shoppable video

Prerequisites

Before you start, make sure you have the following:

  • Before you begin, make sure you have:

    • An uploaded video in VimmiHow to Upload a New Video

    • Products synced or imported into Vimmi

    • (Optional) Connected social media accounts for importing

Step 1 – Select the video you want to make shoppable

  • Log in to Vimmi Console and click the Videos tab in the top menu .

  • In the list of your uploaded videos, click the video that you want to add products to.

When you open a video, the editor displays a preview player, a poster thumbnail, and tabs for Products and Trim. The Products tab is where you’ll make the video shoppable.

Step 2 – Add products to the video

2.1 Open the Products tab

  • On the video’s editor page, scroll down to the Products tab (just below the video player). By default, you’ll see a table with columns for Product, Duration, Featured, Short and Cut.

  • You can add multiple products, but only one product per video should be marked as Featured (this controls which video appears on a product page).

2.2 Attach a product

  • Click Add product. A search field appears.

  • Start typing the product name; Vimmi will auto‑suggest matches from your catalog. Select the product you want to link .

  • If you have many products, use the search field to narrow down by name.

2.3 Set when the product appears

  • After adding a product, two time fields appear in the Duration column. Use them to set the Start and Finish times; this controls exactly when the product overlay pops up . You can use the built‑in time picker to specify down to the millisecond.

2.4 Mark the product as Featured

  • Toggle the Featured switch so it turns green.

2.5 (Optional) Use Trim tools

  • If your video has extra footage at the beginning or end, use the Trim tab to drag the start/end handles or type precise times. This shortens the clip without altering your original file.

2.6 Add more products

Repeat the previous steps for each additional product you want to add. Remember that product times cannot overlap.

Step 3 – Save and preview your shoppable video

  • When all products are added and their durations are set, click Save at the top right of the editor . Without saving, your product links will not persist.

  • After saving, a small product icon appears at the bottom‑right of the video player. The icon shows the number of products linked to the video .

Step 4 – Make the experience seamless

Check Player behaviour

  • Test the video on desktop and mobile to ensure overlays appear at the correct time.

  • If your video has multiple product overlays, make sure the timeline does not feel cluttered.

Use Product Playlists

When you add a product to a video, Vimmi automatically creates a Product Playlist for that product. The featured video shows first, and additional videos can be added to the product’s playlist. To manage these playlists or add/remove videos.

Optimize SEO and video metadata

  • In the editor’s Properties & SEO section, set a clear name, description and SEO fields to help search engines index your hosted video pages.

  • Upload an engaging poster image so that viewers are more likely to click. For best practices.

Troubleshooting

  • Products aren’t appearing in search: Ensure your catalog is synced with Vimmi.

  • Product overlays aren’t showing: Check that you saved your changes and that the display times do not overlap. Only one product should be marked as featured.

  • Time picker not responding: Refresh the page and re‑enter your times. If the issue persists, contact Vimmi Support.
